During your first dental appointment, the hygienist will scrape the tongue with a tongue scraper and use an anti-bacterial gel to neutralize the by-products of odor-producing bacteria. Then scaling instruments will be used to remove the plaque build-up and tartar from your teeth and just below the gum line. This helps in reducing the risk of gum disease, which is also a source of bad breath.
The proper daily oral hygiene instructions are also provided for you to practice at home.
